LIMITED EDITION GOLF PRINT (500)

Discovered among the Frederick Law Olmsted Archives, the original plan of Augusta by Golf Course Architect Dr. Alister MacKenzie still resides at the Frederick Law Olmsted National Historic Site in Brookline, Massachusetts. The large plan, more than four feet wide and nearly five feet in height, is a detailed look at the design and strategy that MacKenzie envisioned for his masterpiece course with input from legendary golfer, Bobby Jones.

To support golf architecture research, a detailed scan of the ink and watercolor original was made available to Golframes for the purpose of creating a version that depicts the modern day routing of Augusta. The re-mastered plan shows the holes in their present numbering. (August’s nines were swapped in 1934, not long after the course opened).

The Fredrick Law Olmstead office was put in charge of site planning at Augusta, working closely with Dr. MacKenzie. For a detailed account of the original plan visit: https://www.forrestrichardsongolf.com/the-original-augusta-watercolor-plan-signed-by-mackenzie/

The “Augusta 1932 MacKenzie Watercolor Print” is the most authentic among the Golframes collection depicting Augusta. MacKenzie’s signature as it appears on the original plan is included on the portrait-oriented print, along with the original scorecard, map scale and the hand lettered title “Plan of Augusta National Golf Course”.
A great gift idea. Available framed or unframed.

  • Limited Edition
  • Each Print is Numbered — Golframes prints that are limited are certified to a set production quantity. If the edition is numbered it will be shipped in sequence. The print number will be determined by the sequence of your order and previously shipped orders. You may inquire on the availability of specific print numbers by contacting us.
  • Renewable Wood Frame - Golframes uses renewable wood composite frames. These frames are durable and manufactured from recycled wood fiber. The surface and sides of frame sections feature a Canadian Walnut finish.
  • Clear Styrene “Glass” - Styrene "glass" is a remarkably strong, flexible, and lightweight product that takes the place of traditional glass. We use styrene instead of glass so our products may be shipped without breaking. While clear styrene is produced through manufacturing, styrene occurs in the environment and is a natural component of many common foods, such as coffee, strawberries and cinnamon. Should you prefer glass in our framed products, the styrene is easily removed and may be recycled with other plastics.
